Branding.
Guess what? Everyone has a brand. Everyone has a way in which they are defined by themselves and those around them. Think about it. If you asked your best friend, mother, co-worker, or some other individual close to you (as well as those who barely know you), what words come to mind when they think of you, those words make up your "brand". How you carry yourself, the way you talk, write, walk, present yourself online and off, the colors you wear, the way you dress, all of this makes up your brand.
Recently, through two separate workshops I'm taking with Melanie Spring (Manifest Your Life and Speak With Confidence), I had to define my brand, what I wanted to be known for compared to what I'm currently known for. I asked friends, family, Facebook friends, Instagram followers, pretty much anyone and everyone what 3-5 words describe me. You know what they said? A TON, all of which was positive (*blushing* as I type that).
Words like - optimistic, positive, faithful, faith-driven, loyal, caring, strong, inspirational, and so many more - were all spoken about me. Me!
So, I started thinking...how do I want to be perceived?
Let's take the word strong, for instance. I consider myself strong. I've been through A LOT in the last 5 years, really the last decade, personally and professionally, and I've not only survived, I've thrived. So, when I think of that word, I want to continue to portray it. That's why the colors of my website are strong colors of blues, silvers, and whites, though the "A" in my name is a bold fuchsia color. I wanted that "A" to stand out and be as strong as me.
OK, now you're wondering what does that "A" stand for?
Well, logically, it's my middle name - Ann - but from a brand perspective, I think of 3 words that begin with A that also resonate with the descriptive words my friends and family gave me -
A - Alive, as in full of life, optimistic, positive, etc.
A - Awe-Inspiring, as in faith-driven, spiritual, inspirational, etc.
A - Active, this one's mine. I try to stay active physically and mentally. I'm over 50 by a hair now and kind of need to do that.
So, that's my brand. I'm Lisa A Sullivan, alive, awe-inspiring, active, and hopefully, all that you need for whatever you ask of me and the services I provide.
Hey, that's another "A" word - All! ;)
I'm bold in blue with a hint of fuchsia to boot!
I like my brand. In fact, I like it a lot. There's another "a" phrase. I better quit while I'm AH-head. Yeah.
